Information About Hawarden Tennis Club.
Hawarden is represented in Divisions 1, 2, 4 & 8 of the Belfast
& District League. We play Men's, Ladies and Mixed Tennis. We
also play in the Floodlight League and have several teams playing
in the Junior League. You can see from our spread through the divisions
we display a wide range of abilities. We believe that winning is
important, playing must be fun and that taking part is vital.
Club tennis is played on Thursday evenings and
Saturday afternoons throughout the year. In order to give new members
an opportunity to meet everyone and get to know players of a similar
standard we run internal mixed leagues. These draw on members of
all ability. About 6 times a year we run a Saturday Round Robin
Tournament.
We have a very strong Junior Section which enjoys
morning coaching sessions each Saturday and Sunday from June to
August. Coaching ‘Squads’ run during autumn, winter
and spring. We also run Easter and summer ‘Camps’ which
are extremely popular.
The Club has a professional coach and all new
members are offered 3 free group coaching sessions. Members may
also arrange private sessions with the coach.
The Club has an active social scene based
around the bar which is open from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm, Tuesday to
Friday. There is normally one special function on a Saturday night
each month. These events range from BBQ’s to Casino Nights
to Cabaret and are great fun for members and friends alike.
